work gets in. My first year, a photograph I made was in the live. It was so exciting! The event had nearly a thousand attendees. There was food, drink, networking, all of the makings for a high-end art event. When it was time for the live auction, all of the students who were selected stood together cheering as the price of each piece went up and up, until.... "SOOOOOLD!" The first time something you made and put your soul into sells for hundreds of dollars, it's like you are on top of the world.
The past few years have been spent in the silent auction, including this year. It is amazing to see your work get into a "bidding war" when two people are desperately trying to outbid one another. It is once a year where you get to meet up with alumni that have been scattered, and come back to help support our school. If you are interested in supporting Montserrat College of Art, you can buy tickets to this amazing event here. It is so important to support our local art community and I hope to see you there!
